Pearpc - is it faster on Linux

Postby ? » Fri Apr 29, 2005 2:37 pm

Hi!

I just would like to ask if my Pearpc 0.4 would run faster if I will install it on minimal Linux os with X server (without and desktop manager)?

I am currently runing it on Winodws XP 850Mhz and I am not satisfied with the speed. I hope it will be improved.

Well, running on an 850mhz will be slow, but yes, it would run slightly faster on a minimal Linux

My laptop (3ghz P4) dual boots Linux (Fedora Core 3) and Windows XP. For me, PearPC runs OS X faster and smoother under Windows.

Nope, only under full-blown KDE, and to be fair, I am running Rawhide, the development version of Fedora, and they are in a pre-release test cycle, so there is a lot of debugging code. Maybe after I am running a regular release again I will try PearPC on a stripped down desktop. It is running amazingly well under Windows, though.

Dif'rent strokes for dif'rent folks.

I have a 2.0Ghz P4 that runs PPC faster under windows. I start Linux PPC with a minimal X11 session just for PPC.
