Why would you switch to G3? G4 is better, why not use G4 and drop G3 soon or now?

No, ball is in OpenBIOS's court, not ours.

PearPC has just about everything needed at this point to support OpenBIOS, but it's seriously underdeveloped for the PowerPC. (This is what I was saying like... months ago, but people were telling me I hadn't looked enough at it.)

Well, now I have looked at it, and it annoys me that they're just using static device trees, rather than building them. I mean, whatever, they haven't had the development time to make the detection code, but still. It makes it pretty much entirely useless to the PearPC community.

(Imagine having to recompile your OpenBIOS binary everytime you wanted to switch from G4 emulation to G3 emulation and vice versa).

*sigh* great....

It's faster than G4 emulation - at the moment, that is.

Occasionally. G4 emulation has a faster memcopy, and in some cases faster math operations.

But I agree, G3 emulation is absolutely necessary still, and will continue to remain so. This is because it's more tested,, and more mature. Less chances of problems.

g4 is quite problematic for me (probably fixed in cvs now though but cygwin uninstalled itself when I was removing cygwin-gnome2)

#openbios on irc.freenode.net

[b:1801651127]UPDATE:[/b:1801651127]

Stepan (OpenBIOS developer) has just been on the PearPC IRC channel.

For all you hackers out there, the main bugs are in this file:
[url:1801651127]http://www.openbios.org/cgi-bin/viewarch.cgi/stepan%40openbios.org--devel/openbios--xml--1.0--patch-29/drivers/adb.c[/url:1801651127]

It is the ADB keyboard system, btw. If anyone is interested in helping, you are more than welcome to Smile
