Temporary Audio Idea

Discuss PearPC's Development and any bugs you find here

SUCESS!!! well sorta...

I was able to actually get sound out of PearPC! I used 3 things to do it: Soundflower (virtual device driver), Nicecast (broadcast over the network), and Winamp (to listen to the audio stream)! I got sound!

Now the HUGE problems: nicecast is not free (shareware), huge system hit on Pearpc (freezes mouse anytime sound is invoked) and the lag can be minutes if the sound makes it out at all! Worst of all, the sound is pretty much garbage. BUT IT IS SOUND NONE THE LESS.

I am sure the developers have a much more elegant way and efficient way to get sound out of pearpc, we just have to be patient!

Thats what i got.

Its pretty un-useable with the sound driver installed, so i'm going to un-install it.

I've started working on a virtual sound card (using the EMU10K1 chipset) build for pearpc, might take a while though

So the current solution you have developed is to stream audio from PearPC to winamp in windows.
But hey, it's better than no audio at all. I'll be interested in further instructions. Wink

How about using Airfoil
http://rogueamoeba.com/airfoil/
It is made primarily to stream to Airport Expresses, but will work with their free "airfoil speaker" app on windows over the "network".
I don't now how much CPU it will use though...

I tried it... It "works", but freezes PearPC for ten seconds each time a sound is heard. Useless :(
2011 : I'm no longer using PearPC... It was fun, though :) Thanks to all contributors !
By special request, the config-file generator is back online
