How to convert a .DMG file?

Postby bigkahuna » Sat Apr 30, 2005 5:09 am

Hi all,

Here's one for the Mac experts:

How can I convert a small OSX .DMG file so I can open it in Windows? Here's a small archive:

http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/i ... onset.html

that contains a set of icons I'd really like to use with my Ubuntu / Aqua theme. Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Paul

Thanks for the tips.

I tried DMG2ISO and it says: "Reading property list... ERROR:Property list is corrupted." My first response is that the file is bad, but it's one of the top downloads from the Apple site, so I'm guessing there's something wrong with DMG2ISO...

Just install ISOBuster, then use it to open the DMG.

Just install ISOBuster, then use it to open the DMG.
[/quote:85ab8d992b]This only works if it is an ISO formatted dmg. However, other dmgs include a zip like compression format, which is what DMG2ISO is supposed to deal with.

I installed ISObuster and was able to open the .DMG file, but to extract the files I have to buy the registered version Rolling Eyes

I was able to see that there are only a small handful of icons and they're in Mac icon format so I'd have to figure out a way to convert them to .PNG's anyways.

Oh well, nice try guys, thanks for the help!

I read somewhere that you could just change the extension from .dmg to .iso anc then mount it but I think it's only for cd images
