Ok, so now i updated pearPC from CVS again and used a clean HD image. It installed just fine now, crashed when trying to reboot. But the best thing is, i get the same error as above when i try to boot it.

Anything i can do to help? Debug something, configure flags, pearpc options?

I have adapted mstrymn's The Moron's Guide to Mac OS X "Tiger" via PearPC to suite your current requirements.

I think i've got all this correct Laughing

Step 1: Things you will need.

A bootable HD Image
http://os-emulation.net/pearpc/web/downloads/6gb.exe (automated extraction)
http://www.pearpc.net/files/macosx_3gb.rar (this *may* also work)

Standard Nightly Build (0.4PRE)
http://richardgoodwin.com/pearpc/downlo ... ightly.zip

Step 2: Setup.

Create the folder "C:\PearPC".

Extract both the bootable HD image (by double clicking and chosing the appropriate folder) and the nightly PearPC build (by using a program such as WinRAR and manually extracting it into the appropriate folder) into "C:\PearPC". Also move your tiger.iso file into "C:\PearPC.

Step 3: Configure.

Create a text file named "boot.txt" in "C:\PearPC", open it with any text editor and paste this inside:

ppc_start_resolution= "800x600x15"

redraw_interval_msec = 40

#key_compose_dialog = "F11"

#key_change_cd_0 = "none"

#key_toggle_mouse_grab = "F12"

#key_toggle_full_screen = "Alt+Return"

prom_bootmethod = "select"

#prom_env_bootargs = ""

prom_env_machargs = "-v"

prom_driver_graphic = "C:\PearPC\video.x"

#page_table_pa = 104857600

cpu_pvr = 0x00088302

#memory_size=0x8000000

##### This is the path to your "Blank formatted hard disk image."
pci_ide0_master_installed = 1
pci_ide0_master_image = "C:\PearPC\6gb.img"
pci_ide0_master_type = "hd"

##### This is the path to your DVD image.
pci_ide0_slave_installed = 1
pci_ide0_slave_image = "C:\PearPC\tiger.iso" # set this to the exact name of your iso file
pci_ide0_slave_type = "dvdrom"

##### Next line for Windows. Set to "1" to activate networking.
pci_3c90x_installed = 0

pci_3c90x_mac = "de:ad:ca:fe:12:34"

##### Next line for Linux. Set to "1" to activate networking.
pci_rtl8139_installed = 0

pci_rtl8139_mac = "de:ad:ca:fe:12:35"
pci_usb_installed = 1
nvram_file = "C:\PearPC\nvram"

Save it.

Step 4: goto step 5

Step 5: Running PearPC.

Click Start->Run-> type "cmd", press enter.

Open up your PearPC folder in Explorer and drag "ppc.exe" into the black terminal, push space and type "C:/PearPC/boot.txt" (without quotes) and press enter.

You should now see another pop-up window, this one sport a PPC logo atop with some colorful text below. Push "1" and enter.

Now you should see a the grey Apple screen, look familiar?

Step 6: Installing Tiger.

Select your language, and continue with the installation.

This will take upwards of 40 minutes with deviations into the 1 1/2 range not uncommon.

After the installation is finished, exit Mac OS X (shutdown) and PearPC.

Step 7: Running Tiger.

Download http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/pear ... l-jitc.zip and extract this to your C:\PearPC folder

Edit your "boot.txt" file so the following part is the same as this:-

##### This is the path to your DVD image.
pci_ide0_slave_installed = 1
pci_ide0_slave_image = "C:\PearPC\tiger.iso" # set this to the exact name of your iso file
pci_ide0_slave_type = "[color=red:b33f077d32]cdrom[/color:b33f077d32]" # was dvdrom

Repeat "Step 5" except this time select "2" and enter.

Congrats! Welcome to Tiger on PearPC!

Step 8: Troubleshooting. Optional?

If for any reason your Tiger start-up should fail, try:

Repeat "Step 5" exactly.

Select your language, except this time around, at the top of your screen select "Utilities ->Disk Utility". Select the HD Image (it is 6gb), then select "Repair Disk" and then "Repair Disk Permissions".

Exit from "Disk Utility" and at the top of your screen select "Utilities->Startup Disk" and select the HD Image as the preferred boot device. Exit "Startup Disk" and click back until you arrive at the language selection screen and exit PearPC.

ok.....thats the error you get when a hard disk image is not the correct size for PearPC.

Could you copy and paste the contents of your config file "boot.txt" file in a reply to this post and let me know which version of PearPC you are using for this and also the exact size's of both your hard disk image and tiger iso image as reported by windows in explorer please.

size of image = 6gb

what the size reported though Question

for example i'm looking at a 4GB drive image at the moment in exploer on windows and it says 4,095,504 kb

If it said say off the top my head 4,123,456 kb it may not work and give this error.

ok.. are you Windows 98 or Windows XP Question

It sounds like you have FAT32 partitions the same as me rather than NTFS

There is a 4GB limit on FAT32 so if this is the case the easliest way is to use the 3GB preformatted image suggested in the guide.
