1) PearPC emulates the PowerPC processor architecture. You won't be able to boot an x86 version (like you have) of Mac OS in PearPC.

2) Don't steal software.

Tiger works too, as long as it isn't x86.

Hate to revive a dead thread but I am having a similar problem...

CPU/CPU] execution started at 06601e10
[IO/PROM] <Warning> 05800000 in use!
[IO/PROM] <Error> memory->claim failed!

Also every time I get these errors it brings up a balloon my my taskbar concerning a network cable being unplugged ?

and I do not believe this is x86 (if this means mac intel then i do not have that) , i have MAC OS 10.4.6

(not mac savy at all, but this would put me in the right direction...)

I changed my config to the above and this time it at least brought up partition boot menu, but aside from that the error is still the same, just that the ballon does not came up anymore...

so any help would be nice..

Change your RAM usage!

Postby phishStix! » Thu Dec 13, 2007 9:53 am

Apparently, there is a problem with PearPC's RAM allocation on some machines, or whatever it does (that's what memory is, after all!). A simple solution that worked for me was to change the RAM usage down from 128 MiB to 96 MiB. The hex value for this is 0x6000000, so the line in the configuration file becomes:

memory_size=0x6000000

Don't forget to un-comment it (take out the #) or the line will be ignored, and end up defaulting to 128 MiB RAM. If you wanted to know (I [i]know[i] you'll want to), I have a Toshiba Satellite A110 Notebook from 2006 with:

--> Microsoft Windows
--> 2GiB Shared RAM (256 MiB to Video, the rest to the machine)
--> An Intel Celeron M Processor @ 1.5 GHz
--> A 1280x800 monitor
--> A 40 GiB SCSI Hard Disk

(To be more specific with which version of Windows I'm Using, I used Windows XP Home Edition, SP2 (and it worked), and I also used Windows Vista Ultimate Edition, SP0 (and it also worked). I used the default configuration file that came with PearPC 0.4, and I only changed the pci_ide0_master_image to "C:\PearPC\6gb.img", and the pci_id0_slave_image to "C:\PearPC\OSX4_1.iso". The OSX4_1.iso is the image of the Mac OS X 10.4.10 installer disc 1 (it's the gray one). The hard disk image was made from the self-extracting file that comes with the os-emulation.net PearPC tutorial.)

I have to warn you, my PearPC still doesn't work. I have solved the RAM problem, but PearPC "cannot find the boot file" when i try to boot from the iso of the gray mac DVD.

Hi,

The fix I found was to open the config file and delete the entire ide devices section. Then, launch PearPC Control Panel, select the iso and and launch PearPC. It should work.
