Possible Problem for Linux Compiles

Postby pearpctweaker » Thu May 12, 2005 6:58 am

I checked out from CvS and compiled under linux, yet when I start pearpc (same image, same config file as my windows) there are no bootable drives available. Start in windows, boots just fine. Start in linux, try to boot to cd, "Can't load boot file!", start in windows, boots to cd just fine.

I attempted to apply prom fixes from the patch page, in hopes that might fix it, but that only badly borked the compile. Ideas?

Either, it doesn't matter, I can completely disable the cdrom drive, and only have the hard drive listed, and it shows no bootable partitions, on the EXACT same image I'm using for windows. (in fact, it's not even coped over or anything, but over a SMB share)

Should be a problem with the IDE stuff. Do you have the 2nd IDE patch installed? (...but I guess there is no special code for win32/lnx...)

You didn't mention this: have you compiled the new source for Windows too, and if so is the problem recurring?

I have not compiled the new source for windows yet, I suppose I'll do that some time today. The problem is always repeatable.

I've changed paths if that's what you refer to. The image file is seen by the linux compile, because the partitions are listed, they're just not bootable.

Strangely enough, linux won't read my image file, windows will(compiled my own for linux, used binary from prasys elite build for windows)......how odd....

That's no comparison. Don't you build on Windows too? If you have the knack on Linux (this current 'fluff' notwithstanding), there's no good reason not to.
