iChat (text only) seems to work for me

Postby Greg » Fri Jun 24, 2005 6:04 pm

Windows XPSP2, PPC 3.1, OSX Panther (from original install disks, not updated).

iChat (text only) seems to work for me; that is at 3AM I was able to start it (after getting networking going), add my .Mac acct, see my buddies and send a text message. I don't know if that message was actually received by my buddy because he was sleeping...

It appears that voice/video are a no go - though I expect that they would not be usable due to emulation speed, etc.

Preferences -> iDisk crashes

Postby Greg » Fri Jun 24, 2005 6:07 pm

After getting my networking running last night I opened up system prefs and went to the .Mac "control panel". Upon clicking on the iDisk tab the machine chunked along for a few minutes and then sys prefs crashed

Here is a list of apps that don't work on OS X in PearPC.

iChat works perfectly for me running the Prasys 7/02 build. It's Safari and Dashboard that I'm having problems with. I know my networking works because I was able to connect in iChat to my AIM account, but whenever I open Safari, it "hangs" whenever it begins to load. Switching to Dashboard makes Dashboard crash and the widgets themselves appear to be missing certain textures.

I did have problems with Safari and Griphics in Tiger.

The solution in my case, in my config file set...........

cpu_pvr = 0x00088302

without the # in front.

Then all was fine and dandy Laughing

I've just checked my iTunes on Tiger and it's all ok.

Are you using Tiger or Panther bot47 Question

Oh i forgot say, although i have said this once before.

Setting............

cpu_pvr = 0x00088302

in your config file can sometimes also speed up Tiger by upto 3 times i have noticed.

This is very much dependant on the exact build PearPC though even down to one days build to another.

On some builds it may not make any speed differance.

Hmm, shouldn't be different on different builds, since the CPU code is quite the same...
