It was a 286... although my father had a 8086 before that which was the first computer I ever played games on...

I bought my 286 (12,5 Mhz, 1 MB memory, 40 MB harddisk) from my dad for about 60 gulden (27 euros). It was a great machine! I loved it too much. Even bought a sound card later on... so I could hear the great sound effects in Prince of Persia.
Anyway... my graphics card died eventually and I never got my old PC back. I got a 486/DX2 66 Mhz, 16 MB memory, with a 300 MB harddisk. I can't tell you how much of an improvement that was!
After that I got a Pentium 166 Mhz with 32 MB memory, 6 GB harddrive and a Voodoo 2 card (woohoo!!)... quite some years later I bought an Athlon Thunderbird 1400mhz, 20GB harddisk (and bought a 60GB as secondary later on), 256 MB memory (which I later expanded to 1024 MB.
Now I own a Dell Inspiron 5150, Pentium 4, 2.8 Ghz, 512 MB memory, 80GB harddrive and a DVD burner. I'm going to get 2 GB of memory on about 2 months.
