??? AMD ???

Postby Static-X » Sat Oct 29, 2005 10:47 am

So, as you know, i need a new PC machine especially for gaming and graphics.
First issue: I need a good processor.
I decided that it will be AMD. But which one(?), i don't know all specification issues, im not an expert in AMD, all my life Intel was my processor, and i know all about Intel, not AMD.
Second issue: I need a new motherboard, and what do you think if it will be on nForce 4 chip?
Third: And, finally, i need a good GPU, such as GeForce 6600GT (now im using 6600), is it good enough for high-entensive games?

So, i need your help, give me an advice, please...

I suggest you go with the X2's (more expensive) or a Venice core (less expensive). And an Asus A8N.

A 7800GT will be great for high-intensive games.

AMD Athlon? 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor OR AMD64 FX 4000+ (or similar)
Nvidia nForce 4 Ultra (or similar) OR Geforce 6800 GT

It really depends on your what you are going to be using this for and how much you want to spend.

Gaming eh , Dual-Core has not advantage against gaming [b:68fb15f9fc] But [/b:68fb15f9fc] you can do multi-tasking (e.g running CS on proc1 and running antivirus at the backgorund on processor 2 , without slowing down both the applications). If you want to do exterme gaming , then i would suggest you to get the AMD Athlon 64 FX processor line. Its pretty good for gamers , seriously. But if you're more to multi-tasking and stuff like that , you might want to get dual-core proc. aBOUT THE graphics card , it depends if you want a PCI-e or a AGP graphics card

What I'm planning to buy:
CPU: AMD "Athlon 64 3500+" (2.20GHz, 512Kb, HT800MHz) Socket939 (Box)
GPU: PCI-E 256Mb ASUS Extreme EN6800LE/HTD "GeForce 6800 LE" DDR TV-out DVI
Motherboard: Socket939 GIGABYTE "GA-K8NF-9" (nForce4 4X, 4xDDR, U133, SATA-RAID, PCI-E, SB, Gigabit Ethernet, IEEE1394b, USB2.0, ATX)
Is it enough or not?
