PearPC on a 700Mhz box - It runs quite well

Postby Alex » Fri Jan 27, 2006 7:49 am

I decided to try running PearPC on my 700Mhz box - which happens to be my primary PC at the moment - and was surprised to see that it runs better than on my 1.6Ghz box. The specs are:
    Intel Pentium III (Coppermine) 700Mhz
    256MB SDRAM
    nVidia GeForce FX5200 Graphics
    Frugalware Linux 0.4pre
    PearPC 0.4.0

That doesn't suprise me. It runs just fine on my 1.4 Celeron or my 800/1.2 mobile P3. It's sort of weird. Most of it is a matter of interpretation of the word "well" I guess...

I actually did most of my dev work for the AltiVec code on a dual 800MHz system. It ran the JITC fine also, but the generic core was horribly slow. Smile

LOL, I can't imagin Wink Even debugging my Webserver on a 300MHZ machine hurts. And this is not the most complex application.
