iPhone Development

Postby fzamora1777 » Fri Dec 19, 2008 4:23 pm

I am researching the possibility of doing development for iPhone. I want to test the waters before I dive in (buy a Mac) and I think Pear PC is a great way to do just that. I realize that I have to buy OS x. I have a couple of questions before I do that.

1. Can I do development for iPhone using Pear PC?
2. What version of OS X do I need to buy in order to use Pear PC.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Apple's SDK for the iPhone requires Mac OS X 10.5 to run, which has been emulated successfully with PearPC. As for whether the SDK tools will work, you'll probably have to find that out for yourself.

You might also want to look into developing on Linux with the iPhone toolkit developed by hackers and not endorsed by Apple. You can find that project here: http://code.google.com/p/iphone-dev/

You can start iphone developing using pear PC. Since it requires only Mac OS to develop and run the application, there won't be any problem. But for better iphone development experience, you need to own a Mac computer.
